Our idea to start a ´Greeter program’ is not really new but has been working successfully all over the world. In 1992, New-York-citizen Lynn Brooks founded the ‘Big Apple Greeter’ concept. New York volunteers started to show tourists the New York where they live and work. Over the years, other cities followed: Chicago, Paris, Melbourne, Berlin – and finally Kassel!

With ‘Kassel Greeters’ we bring together interested visitors and dedicated Kassel locals – without any charge at all. Being voluntary greeters we are not professional city guides. We love our city and our special quarter and want to provide an insight into our very personal life in this city. The Greeters accompany you without a fee, without a tip. Just like a good friend would do.

As Greeters we show you the different quarters of Kassel with both its rough edges and beauty. Where are the most unusual stores? Where to buy the best wine, where to get a cheap meal. What we do not provide is a complete sightseeing to all the tourist places; but we can tell you where to book a guided tour. We know the answers to most of your questions. What can a ‘greet’ look like? Find out more here!
